Linda Gambrell is the lead teacher in the Infants’ Room.  A truly dedicated caregiver, she has been with NWCDC for over 21 years and has taught all ages.  Ms. Gambrell enjoys creating a stimulating, colorful environment for the infants by using vivid colors and patterns.  Parents and her peers are always impressed with her high level of commitment and her devotion to duty.     

 

2007-02

 

Veronica Johnson Mack has been with NWCDC for nine years and has worked with the infants, toddlers and twos but considers the infants her favorite.  Ms. Roni is a regular visitor to the Caribbean and New York.  As example of her adaptability, her hobbies are dancing and knitting. Always fun, Ms. Roni brings laughter and a zest for life to work everyday.  

 

2007-03

 

Mary Bitting has been with NWCDC for 27 years and is lead teacher of the 4 – 5 year olds.  Not that she is an overachiever but Ms. Mary has a BS degree in History and Sociology, a CNA license, a certificate in data entry and is a Notary Public.  Her teaching belief is that children learn from what they see and hear much more than what they are told.  Ms. Mary considers it her obligation to help all children acquire the skills necessary to achieve the success they are entitled to.  For fun, Ms. Mary enjoys crocheting and designing flower arrangements.    

 

Gloria Stephens has been with NWCDC since 1990 and is a lead teacher of the infants and toddlers.  Ms. Gloria holds a BS degree in Sociology and North Carolina Early Childcare Credentials I and II.  She believes that the community as a whole is best served by setting and exceeding the standards of early childhood development.  In her free time, Ms. Gloria loves to read nonfiction, especially autobiographies.  She recommends Measure of a Man by Sidney Poitier as a particularly good read.     

 

Virginia Miller-Carson has been with NWCDC since 1977 and has educated children at Franciscan, Cleveland Avenue and A Great Start.  And in these 30 years Ms. Ann has remained an optimistic realist, always encouraging parents to be strong and loving advocates for their children.  When not busy playing with the older infants at A Great Start, Ms. Ann enjoys working out and watching the Lifetime Channel.  

 

Charlene Gunter has been with NWCDC since 2007 and is the lead teacher of the threes. To supplement her experience in early childhood education, Ms. Charlene is completing courses at Forsyth Technical Community College. The threes are her favorite age group because “they are always so connected to the world around them.”  For fun, Ms. Charlene listens to her favorite gospel singer, Richard Smallwood and shops for handbags.    

 

Kristy Isaacs has been with Northwest Child Development since 2001. She has worked at our King Center and is now at A Great Start. Everyday starts with a smile from Kristy and the day is filled with fun and laughter for the children and the staff. Kristy works with all ages of children and especially loves the babies. Kristy has her NWCDC teaching credentials and will be returning to school this January. Kristy has a son, Paul who is 23. In her spare time Kristy loves to go shopping with her aunts and grandmother.

 

Katrina Mann joined Northwest in August of this year. The 3’s and 4’s welcome Ms. Katrina everyday with hugs and kisses. She is a graduate of WSSU, with a degree in Exercise Science. Ms. Katrina is from the eastern part of North Carolina and loves the Barbeque and Hush Puppies from there. She loves to read and enjoys the outdoors. Ms. Katrina is a wonderful addition to A Great Start.

 

  


Tamika Forney comes to us from MudPies, and is our More at Four Teacher. She has her degree in Birth to Kindergarten. Ms.Tamika loves working with the children and seeing their faces light up when they finally understand what they are learning. She loves to read and surf the web. Ms. Tamika is a welcome asset to A Great Start.

 

Tenicia Patrick joined A Great Start in October. Ms. Tenicia works with the toddlers. She is very gentle, but firm when she needs to be. To get a real workout, Ms Tenicia loves to dance and exercise with the Toddlers. Outside time is always an adventure. Ms. Tenicia loves to read and watch TV. She is a very loveable teacher, and staff member. We welcome her to A Great Start

 

  



Anastasia Smith comes to us from Winston- Salem State where she is in school studying for her Birth –Kindergarten Childcare Degree. She has been with us since September 07. Anastasia works with the two’s, but loves the babies. When she is around all the children love to dance, and clown around with her. She is a great asset to A Great Start.

 

  



Margo Holman has been with A Great Start for several months. She has a degree in Early Childhood Birth-Kindergarten. Margo is a teacher of the 2 year olds. She gets along well with her peers. Margo loves to spend time with her daughter Jamia and husband Jason. Her new hobby is taking pictures of her beautiful daughter. When not snapping pictures, Margo collects pennies, loves to travel and go shopping. She is a wonderful asset to A Great Start.
